Reporting to the Investigation Supervisor, you will be responsible for investigating Income Support, AISH, and other Human Services program client cases where allegations of fraud or program abuse have been lodged. You will gather evidence and bring charges forward in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code of Canada. In this role, you will also verify reported information and liaison and consult with program staff, Crown Prosecutors, and Federal, Provincial and Municipal Policing Agencies.
As the ideal candidate, you require strong organizational skills, problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills. Well-developed communication skills, especially investigation and interviewing skills, as well as writing skills will ensure your success in this role. Outcomes focused, you will be flexible and adaptable and exercise sound judgment supported by evidence in your approach. The ability to work both independently and within a team environment is an important element of this position. You will demonstrate excellent relationship building skills, coupled with tact and diplomacy while interacting with stakeholders, colleagues and clients.

A University degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible investigations experience is required. Successful completion of the Peace Officer Legal Studies course and appointment as a Peace Officer by the Solicitor General is required. Knowledge of Departmental programs and policies is considered an asset. Court experience and the ability to interpret and apply legislation are preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,469.35 to $3,238.98 Bi-weekly
1. A condition of employment for this position is successful completion of the Peace Officer Legal Studies course and appointment as a Peace Officer by the Solicitor General. Candidates not having the Peace Officer designation may be considered at a lower classification level on a developmental plan.
2. Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening.
3. This competition may be used to fill other positions at the same or lower classification level in the Government of Alberta.
4. This role requires that you have a valid class 5 driver?s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
