The Litigation Team provides a broad range of litigation services to other ministries. The Legal Assistant plays an integral part of the team. In this challenging role, you will assist the legal team by processing a variety of documents from lawyers dictation, handwritten notes or detailed verbal instructions, including letters, memos, reports, preparing lists of undertakings, pleadings, trial binders and legal documents such as Affidavit of Records, Briefs, Orders, Statement of Claims, Affidavits and Affidavits of Service, Briefs, Books of Authorities and Factums. Other activities you will be responsible for are maintaining and organizing files and diary systems, arranging appointments, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, and other paralegal duties as required.
To be successful in this position a strong knowledge of court procedure and relevant legislation as well a firm foundation of general litigation knowledge is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) is required and experience with litigation is desirable.

A two-year Legal Assistant diploma and at least one year of related experience is required. Experience in litigation is considered an asset. Equivalencies may be considered based 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
$1,868.66 - $2,297.57 bi-weekly
This is a 12 month temporary position.
This competition may be used to fill future permanent and temporary vacancies. Candidates that do not meet the qualifications for this level may be considered at a lower classification and salary level.
