Reporting to the Manager, Policy and Strategy, you are responsible for developing and coordinating policies and programs related to the health workforce in Alberta. The policies you develop pertain to supply and demand, distribution, education, regulation, utilization and productivity of health professionals who work within and external to the public health system.
As a Policy Analyst you provide leadership and expertise to internal and external partners to support informed decisions about health human resources and patient care. Your ability to collaborate with these partners assists you in identifying and prioritizing issues and opportunities to quantify and meet provincial health workforce needs.
Your drive for results allows you to apply theoretical knowledge and on-the-ground evidence to identify complex problems/issues and develop creative policy solutions that support the health system in its workforce needs. Taking a systemic and methodical approach, you analyze, interpret and present labor economics data and information to understand health workforce changes and trends. Your ability to lead and manage projects effectively and efficiently ensures that all activities are executed in a timely and evidenced based fashion. Your superior written and verbal communication skills ensure complex issues and solutions are communicated and supported by all stakeholders involved. You work well in a team and are self-motivated at the same time. You like to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing expectations quickly.
University graduation in Public Policy, Labour Economics, Health Care Administration, or related field plus a minimum of 4 years progressively responsible policy development experience is required. Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis activities is essential. Experience working with and/or developing public healthcare policies/legislation as well as working with physician compensation models would be considered an asset.
$2,596.42 - $3,403.56 bi-weekly
