The Ministerial Correspondence Unit (MCU) performs a highly visible and critical function within the ministry, and we are looking for an experienced Writer/Editor.
In this role, you will be responsible for editing and writing correspondence and briefings for the Premier, Minister, other ministers and government MLAs, and Deputy Minister. The incumbent prepares responses in consultation with department staff and assists them in responding to action requests (ARs). You will maintain an awareness of issues and emerging trends to assist the MCU in responding appropriately to correspondence and other requests. Under the direction of the Manager, you will assist in the development and delivery of AR writing workshops to department staff and be responsible for revising and maintaining the ministry's style guide.
To be successful, you will use your expert collaboration skills and ability to influence others to deliver MCU services efficiently and effectively. You will need to be a systems thinker, understand government priorities, and be adaptable to change. Your judgment, self-management, and strategic thinking will assist you with prioritizing your work in alignment with organizational goals. You challenge the status quo and seek creative solutions to meet challenges and achieve optimal outcomes. In this dynamic environment, you will need to draw on your exceptional communication skills and knowledge of the Action Request Tracking System (ARTS). You will also need to adhere to the writing standards for government in general and elected officials in particular.

University graduate in a related field and two years of progressively responsible related experience writing and editing within the public sector. Experience with ARTS is essential. Experience facilitating training is an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,420.93 to $3,175.47 bi-weekly ($63,186 - $82,879.76 per annum)
Candidates with lower qualifications will be considered at a lower classification. This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies across government.
