The Consumer Investigations Unit (CIU) is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, organized individual with strong interpersonal skills to join our team.
Responsibilities include conducting investigations by gathering, securing and preserving evidence; interviewing complainants; interviewing witnesses and respondents; taking statements and warned statements; and examining records. Investigators respond to inquiries from the public; interpret, administer and apply a number of consumer protection statutes as well as make appropriate recommendations to management regarding any subsequent enforcement actions. Enforcement action can include warnings, reprimands, violation tickets, prosecutions, hearings, restraining orders, court orders, etc.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work well with the public, businesses, industry associations and other enforcement agencies. You will have strong time management skills including the ability to pay attention to detail while handling multiple assignments and competing priorities. You will draw on your negotiation and mediation skills in an effort to resolve conflicts. There is a high degree of independence within this position so you will require the ability to make decisions on your own as well as work as part of a team.
A related university degree plus a minimum of 2 years' experience in regulatory administrative law enforcement experience is required, including interpreting and applying legislation. Experience in conducting in-depth research, conducting fact finding interviews, examining documents and exceptional verbal and written communication skills is required. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,420.93 - $3,175.47 bi-weekly ($63,186 - $82,879 annually)
This is a Temporary opportunity expiring on or before June 30, 2015.
Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening. You must have or be eligible for a Peace Officer appointment.
Secondments would be considered.
Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies.
