Senior Manager (Zone 1)

We are looking to recruit a Senior Manager for our Governance Unit, Field Operations Liaison Branch for a one year temporary opportunity.
This position is part of a specialized team responsible for providing advice and support to Delegated First Nation Agencies (DFNAs) in the delivery of the Ministry's children and youth programs and services with specific emphasis on intervention. The main responsibility of this role will be to provide support to DFNAs to enhance capacity, monitor the delivery of child intervention services, develop and implement business plans, disseminate information, identify and address challenges affecting service delivery.
You will be managing contracts and agreements on behalf of the Minister supporting accountability, results-based budgeting, effectiveness and efficiency. You will participate in Ministry teams providing Aboriginal perspective and inclusion of challenges and opportunities affecting service delivery to Aboriginal children and families that supports meaningful legislation, standards, policy and program development.
You will lead a team of six and will be responsible for recruiting, retaining and developing knowledgeable and skilled staff able to deliver to service requirements. You will participate in the development of the Ministry's Business plan, the Division's Operational plan as well as action plan for Field Operations Liaison branch.
You will use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with stakeholders. You will also be collaborating with partners within and beyond the Ministry including DFNAs, Child & Family Service Regions, Metis Nations of Alberta Association (MNAA), Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) and other Ministries. You will also be able to demonstrate senior level competencies in leadership/influencing, strategic thinking, relationship building, problem solving, decision-making, judgement and innovation.
Significant travel is required.
University graduation in Social Work, Business/Management or related discipline supplemented by six or more years' experience in frontline child intervention in a leadership capacity will be ideal. Related University degree with extensive years of frontline child intervention experience. Experience working under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act is required. Experience working with First Nations' communities is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
Bi-weekly Salary: $ 3,214.68 - 4,386.18
- Position is a one year term
- Successful applicants who possess a BSW, MSW or Diploma in Social Work (SW Dip from an Alberta College) will be required to be registered and maintain registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
- Significant travel is a requirement of this position; thus, the successful candidate must have a valid Alberta Driver's License
