We are in the midst of an exciting time for Alberta Human Services, and the Program Design & Policy Development Branch is no exception! We have an exciting opportunity available that allows you to play a key leadership role in the provision of strategic program design and policy advice in the planning and development of child and family program policy. As the Director, Child & Family Program Policy, you will play a critical role in supporting the "think", "design", "deliver", and "connect" model to promote improved integration among divisions, as it relates to program design and policy development.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position provides strategic advice on policy development and program design. Your focus on building and maintaining effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the Ministry, is a critical component of success. You will also be responsible for providing strong leadership to a mix of management, professional and administrative staff, fostering a partnering culture within the department, and with stakeholders, to ensure the effective and efficient development of public policy.

Networking with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to bring about a common understanding of issues will be a strength of yours, leading to the development of the strong relationships that are required to work as partners in the development of a common plan for action.
You will have a good understanding of the work of Alberta Human Services, strong knowledge and experience with policy and legislative processes, as well as sound knowledge of and experience leading complex strategic planning and accountability processes. You will exemplify strong problem solving and decision making skills in circumstances where there is constant change. Previous experience and knowledge relevant to programs supporting children and families is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to develop high quality program policy options and to provide high-level strategic policy and program advice to executive leadership, as well as the Minister, is a necessity. Your ability to take a systems-thinking approach, lead high profile strategic initiatives, manage change, and achieve positive results, while supporting innovation and ensuring the most efficient and effective outcomes, are what is needed for this role.
A University Degree in a related field, as well as extensive senior management experience is required. Considerable experience with large public sector policy and program development and implementation is also required. In-depth knowledge and understanding of legislation relevant to child & family programs is an asset, as is previous experience in change management.
$3,871.67 to $4,916.45 (biweekly) ($101,050 to $128,319 annually)
