Court Services is looking for an independent, energetic individual to join our team as a Judicial Assistant!
As a Judicial Assistant you will perform executive and administrative duties for Judges of the Provincial Court of Alberta - Edmonton Criminal Division. You will require excellent decision making skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
You will prepare correspondence, format, finalize and proof-read draft judgments, which may be prepared and/or formatted from digital dictation, hard copy and dicta-phone. You will also arrange meetings and appointments, establish and maintain filing systems as well as reception duties. All duties must be performed with a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy, tact and diplomacy.
The successful candidate will require strong communication skills and interpersonal skills due to the high volume of correspondence with both Judges and the public. Your excellent keyboarding and grammar as well as your legal/Latin terminology and familiarity of the court system will be assets in the position. Sound judgment, exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task will be required in order to succeed in this exciting opportunity.
Two Year diploma in a related field plus one year of recent related experience in a legal or court environment are required. Significant experience with Microsoft Office is essential. Experience with JOIN (Justice Online Information Network), WORTS (Work Order Tracking System) and WordPerfect would be considered assets. Equivalencies will be considered.
$1,868.66 to $2,297.57 Bi-weekly
This is a temporary opportunity expiring on or before January 20, 2015. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies. Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening. Secondments will be considered.
