The Primary Health Care Branch within the Primary Health Care division has the lead role in setting system-level strategic policy directions, funding and accountability related to primary health care. The Branch is also responsible for ensuring coordination and consistency in the development, interpretation and implementation of health policy relevant to or having an impact on primary care.

As a Policy Analyst within the Primary Health Care Branch you will provide research, analysis and support towards developing policy options for primary health care policy initiatives. Within the Primary Care Network Implementation Unit specifically, you will be responsible for review and analysis of key model documents including business plans, budgets and annual reports to highlight achievements as well as identify issues related to overall compliance with policy directions or accomplishment of identified objectives. You will also be responsible for conducting literature reviews, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and research support for the Division.
As the successful candidate, you have excellent writing skills and knowledge of policy, planning, legislative-process, and decision-making process within a large organization. In addition, your understanding of business planning and budget development, health policy issues, research methods and the policy cycle will be an asset in this role. Creativity, flexibility and your demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders will be important success factors for this position. You also possess the ability to work strategically and simultaneously manage a wide variety of issues, organize resources and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
University degree in a related field such as business, health or science with a minimum of two years of progressively responsible policy related experience is required. Experience related to Alberta's health system and within the public sector would be considered an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,420.93 - $ 3,175.47 bi-weekly ($63,186.27 - $82,879.76 per annum)
There is currently one (1) temporary full-time position available within this branch. This competition may be used to fill a number of future vacancies in various ministries throughout the Government of Alberta.
