You are good with numbers and do you care about the safety and security of Albertans? The Office of the Fire Commissioner needs your help!
Responsible for the general oversight of fire rescue and the search and rescue portion of Alberta's public safety system, the Office of the Fire Commissioner is looking for a Data Research Analyst. The position is responsible for the development, delivery and maintenance of fire and search and rescue related event data gathering and analysis.
By analyzing the information from the database that will be built and maintained by you, the position will identify trends that will help the Office of the Fire Commissioner measure the performance of the fire and search and rescue sectors, support public awareness programs development and assist development of appropriate safety codes within the province.
You will provide the leadership necessary to develop and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will also be responsible for leading the development and acquisition of the tools necessary to effectively manage the required data and the ongoing management of that data.
In order to be successful, the incumbent needs strong quantitative research and research analysis skills, strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills. If combined with strong computing knowledge including database management systems like Oracle, a good knowledge of SAS and SQL (structured query languages) and data base building experience, this position is for you.
University graduation in a relevant research-based field, plus 2 years of progressively responsible experience in data management and manipulation, data linkage and advanced statistical analysis using descriptive and inferential statistics is required.
Certifications in SAS as well as experience building data bases are preferred. Excellent written and oral communication is essential and experience building relationships with stakeholders is desirable. Experience working with the Fire Electronic Reporting System (FERS), the Fire Statistical Information System (FSIS) and data produced within DH4 search and rescue software will be an asset. Similar experience or experience using ARCGIS will also be an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,420.93 to $3,175.47 bi-weekly
