HIA (Health Information Act) Policy Unit has an exciting opportunity available for an analytical, results-oriented professional interested in developing strategic health policy.
Reporting to the HIA Policy Manager, the HIA Policy Analyst is responsible for providing policy analysis related to the HIA, supporting internal and external stakeholders in complying with HIA, for developing and maintaining training and best practice tools for custodians, and supporting working groups and cross ministry initiatives impacted by HIA.
Specifically, in this role, you will be responsible for developing and recommending health information policy to senior management. Central to the position is the interpretation and ongoing development of policy content, access, use and disclosure in accordance with the provision of the Act and Regulations.
To be successful, you will need to be a quick learner, strategic thinker, and an effective communicator (both verbally and written). In addition, your relationship building skills will assist you in working collaboratively with others to achieve results, and your research and analytical skills will assist you in interpreting and developing policy, briefs and reports.
You will also require extensive knowledge of the HIA, FOIP, PIPA and PIPEDA Acts, knowledge of general and health-specific access and privacy legislation and principles, applicable policy in Alberta and legal precedents in Alberta and other jurisdictions. As well, you will have an awareness of new and emerging health information technologies and their implications on access and privacy matters.
University graduation in law, health sciences, health administration, social sciences or related field plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience. Equivalencies considered. Experience with policy development, information management, and/or health issues management is required. Experience in working with a broad range of stakeholder groups is also required. Working knowledge of privacy and access legislation is essential. Direct experience with Health Information Policy would be considered an asset.
$2,420.93 to $3,175.47 bi-weekly. $63,186 to $82,879 annually
