Be the initial contact representing Alberta Human Services to receive and respond to referrals and inquiries regarding the needs of children, youth and families. The Fort Saskatchewan Neighbourhood Centre has an exciting and challenging opportunity available for an Intake Worker.
As the Intake Worker, your role will be to gather and review in depth information and determine the level of risk to children, youth and families. Your ability to work as a team in completing collateral contacts and community referrals is vital in making sure the most appropriate type of intervention is provided. This position is key to ensuring our clients are assessed professionally and receive referrals to the appropriate level of service to meet their needs. This may include de-escalating the situation, providing detailed referral information, directly linking with emergency response and/or actively linking to appropriate services. You will also ensure that the type and level of service required is in place. The primary client is the child/youth/family, from various ethno-cultural backgrounds, which may be at risk or in need of intervention services.
You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interviewing and assessment skills and the ability to use the computer and the Child Intervention Services Information System (ISIS). Very thorough knowledge of child protection legislation and processes, child abuse, neglect and family dynamics is essential.
A Bachelor of Social Work with at least one year frontline child intervention experience is required. Equivalencies will be considered.
- Successful applicants who possess a BSW, MSW or Diploma in Social Work (SW Dip from an Alberta College) will be required to be registered and maintain registration with the College of Social Workers prior to commencement of employment.
- Final candidates for this position may be asked to undergo a security screening.
- This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same and/or lower classification level.
- Candidates with less qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary
$2,368.82 - $ 3,062.14 Bi-weekly
