The Provincial Court House in Wetaskiwin has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to provide support to the Manager and Deputy Administrator. Professionalism and strong interpersonal skills are required in order to build and maintain strong relationships within the Court.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- receiving, examining and distributing court documents
- entering data from various documentation in the appropriate computer system
- scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and taking minutes
- drafting correspondence and reports
- managing the office filing system
- collect fines, restitution, bail, etc. and issue receipts
- preparing bank deposits and issuing cheques
The ideal candidate will exercise professionalism, organization, independence, flexibility, and initiative. All duties must be performed with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication, time-management and problem-solving skills are essential to succeed in this role.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (or Novell GroupVise) is required. Records management and cash register/balancing experience would be an asset. Superior typing, formatting, editing and proofreading skills are required.
High school diploma plus at least two years of administrative experience. Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (or Novell GroupWise) is required. Basic accounting knowledge along with experience dealing with cash register/balancing are considered assets. Experience with records management and ViewWise would also be considered an asset. Completed education in the legal or secretarial field, as well as government experience will also be considered an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$1,582.24 to 1,933.21 bi-weekly
A valid Driver's License (class 5) and a reliable vehicle is required for travel to circuit Court locations (please mention it on the resume).
This position may require extended periods of sitting and/or standing. Repetitive tasks include keyboarding and writing.
The candidate must have the ability to lift files/exhibits to a weight of 25 lbs.
Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. This competition may be used to fill future temporary or permanent full-time and part-time vacancies.
A computer test may be required to be completed after the interview.
