Alberta Historic Site and Museums is looking for a graphic designer (half-time) to help show off the best in Alberta culture and history.
Reporting to the Manager of Creative Services, the Graphic Designer will work as part of a team of people responsible for the design and production of all two dimensional graphic requirements for Historic Sites and Museums. This position will develop and implement innovative and effective graphic design solutions in support of client requests. The position will be involved in developing design concepts, and creating digital artwork for exhibition signage, education and marketing promotional print materials, as well as, multimedia and online graphic designs. The position supports the production of various products both in-house and through outside services. This position is required to have the ability to coordinate concurrent projects and to schedule time efficiently.
To be successful in this role, you will need strong design conceptualization, photography and illustration skills. Effective organization and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work in and contribute to multi-disciplinary teams.
A three-year diploma in Visual Communications Design or other related field, plus two years of related experience, is required. Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office is essential. Experience with Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver is an asset. Proficiency in Apple computer hardware and software is required. Previous experience in multimedia and animation design is an asset. Portfolio review required.
$919.75 - $1,187.99 bi-weekly ($24,005 - $31,006.50 annually based on half-time hours)
Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to submit a portfolio for review. If no suitable candidate is found at the ICTS3 level, this position may be filled at a lower classification and salary. Travel across Alberta is required in this position; a valid Class 5 driver's license is required. Successful applicants may be required to undergo security screening.
