Do you enjoy writing, reading, researching, and finding grammatical and syntax errors in other people's work? Is attention to detail important to you? If so Alberta Energy has an exciting opportunity in the Deputy Minister's office. We are currently looking to fill a permanent full time position in our innovative and exciting planning and communications team.
Reporting to the planning and communications manager in the Deputy Minister's Office (DMO), the writer/editor provides correspondence support for the Department of Energy. This position works as a team member of the correspondence unit and is responsible for the written responses to departmental inquiries. Strong writing, editing, and time management skills are key to this position.
In this role you must be able to work in a complex, multi-tasking environment under tight timelines and demonstrate leadership on the job. It is expected you will have a good understanding of political processes, systems, and government departments, which will lead to success in this role.
The successful candidate will use their competency strengths in creative problem solving, agility, and in developing networks to ensure all duties and responsibilities are successfully achieved.

University degree in English, journalism, political science or communication arts supplemented with related experience in research, writing, and editing including technical documents is required. Equivalencies such as a two year accelerated diploma program coupled with two years relevant experience will be considered. Position requires knowledge of standards in writing (Canadian Press). Experience in a government setting and experience with ARTS is a definite asset
$2,113.48 - $2,772.38 Bi-Weekly ($55,162 - $72,359 Annually)
This competition may be used to fill future and current, permanent and temporary salaried vacancies across the Government of Alberta. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered for positions at a lower classification and salary.
