An exciting opportunity exists as a result of restructuring within the Finance Branch of Alberta Transportation. The Branch provides financial expertise and support to the ministry to assist in enhancing decision-making, attaining business plan objectives, maintaining financial integrity and accountability and the safeguarding of assets. This is achieved through proactive leadership and senior financial management experience within a service oriented organization. Applicants must have the ability to build solid, on-going working relationships within the organization, across government and with Alberta Treasury Board and Finance to provide financial management, policy and analytical services to the Ministry. Reporting to the Senior Financial Officer/Executive Director, the Director of Financial Planning is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to professional and technical staff in the delivery of a comprehensive set of financial services including financial planning and management, and capital project budgeting and monitoring, to assist the Ministry in meeting business plan objectives. The successful applicant will provide leadership in the preparation of short and long term fiscal analysis to be used in the development of the department's annual budget and quarterly reporting, three-year business plan, and future decision-making. The position also plays a key role in working with Alberta Treasury Board and Finance to resolve issues with budgetary targets (operational expense, capital spending, revenue and FTEs) for the Ministry of Transportation.
University graduation in a related field plus 7 years related experience in progressively responsible positions within government or other large financial operations, including experience with a large diversified service oriented financial operation and with complex financial systems. A professional accounting designation such as CA (Chartered Accountant), CGA (Certified General Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant) would be an asset. Candidates with a Master's Degree in Business or Public Administration (MBA/MPA) in lieu of a professional designation may also be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with Alberta Government experience.
$3,871.67 to $4,916.45 bi-weekly ($101,051 to $128,319 annually)
