Are you a creative person looking for an exciting opportunity to further your career in international business? We are looking for a talented and creative individual to further Alberta's trade and investment objectives in the United States.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Technology Industries, U.S., you will support the Trade and Investment Unit in the planning, development, marketing and execution of international trade and investment business development activities in the United States. Your responsibilities will include research, written and verbal delivery of market intelligence both within Alberta and our targeted U.S. markets. Strong writing skills will support a variety of innovative ideas to effect market awareness.
You will use your creative abilities, inter-personal and relationship-building skills together with your knowledge of our priority sectors in the U.S. to assist Alberta companies expanding into new markets and to promote Alberta as the best place to do business and invest.
This position requires communication with businesses, partners, industry and their associations, officials from domestic and international governments, as well as business development stakeholders. Investment attraction requires excellent interpersonal skills, strategic thinking and an ability to manage complex projects requiring high levels of client-focused analysis and communication.
Your ability to work in a team, manage projects and facilitate awareness of Alberta with creative marketing and new ideas in constantly changing markets and business environments are important advantages you will bring to the position. A good understanding and ability to work in a social media environment is highly desired and will increasingly contribute to strategies and delivery vehicles promoting Alberta.
Your attention to detail, writing skills, organizational skills, flexibility in dealing with multiple requests, ability to work under tight timelines are essential for succeeding in this position. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills, diplomacy, cultural awareness and problem solving skills are required for working within Canada and in international markets. Above all, the successful candidate will be able to maximize and deliver measurable results just as our customers and clients must in the business community.
University degree in a related field such as Commerce, International Business/Relations or Political Science plus 4 years progressively responsible experience. A focus on marketing and/or international business as well as trade & investment experience is an asset. Considerable progressively responsible related experience and excellent writing and communication skills are required. Proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office and database management software is required. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,596.42 - $3,403.56 bi-weekly
A valid passport will be required as the position requires travel to both domestic and international locations. This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies across government. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower level of classification and salary. It is recommended that applicants who have obtained educational credentials from outside of Canada and have not had them previously assessed, obtain an evaluation of their credentials from the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) -
