If you are seeking to establish or advance your career within the public service, the Technical Standards Branch of the Engineering Services Division has a rare opening for the Knowledge Management Engineer position. If you are a Civil Engineer with expertise in highway engineering and some knowledge of geometric design and construction procedures, this position may be the right fit for you so don't wait and apply today!
Reporting to the Director, Design, Project Management and Training, the Knowledge Management Engineer ensures that the branch mandate of providing new and relevant knowledge and training opportunities to department staff is achieved. You will undertake web-based research, present findings and form conclusions on road design and road building industries around the world. In your everyday duties, you will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, such as local, national and international universities and technical institutes, and the Centre for Transportation Engineering and Planning.
This position requires strong communication and facilitation skills to maintain relationships with various stakeholders. The candidate should be comfortable with preparing and presenting technical information on highway design issues. Report writing for a technical audience as well as the ability to convey the same information in a 'plain language' format is required. Problem solving and analytical skills are also required. You will also be required to draw on your expertise and experience to search for technical reports on worldwide databases.
A university degree in civil engineering and membership or eligibility for membership with APEGA plus a minimum of five years of related experience in the transportation industry. Experience in geometric design, technology transfer, and research and development procedures would be considered assets. Demonstrated experience writing reports, briefing notes, memos for technical and non-technical audiences would be beneficial and is required in this role. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,883.32- $3,992.18 bi-weekly
Candidates with lesser experience may be considered at a lower classification and salary level. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at equal or lesser classifications. This position works out of the Twin Atria building located at 4999 - 98 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta.
