If you are seeking to establish or advance your career within the public service, the Strategic Procurement Branch of Alberta Transportation has a rewarding opportunity for you to apply your talents and gain valuable experience and training.
Working within a team of professional and technical experts, the Tendering Technologist uses their keen eye for detail and accuracy; their familiarity with procurement policies and practices; and their knowledge of the principles of contract law to ensure tender documents for highway, bridge and water management construction and rehabilitation programs are in compliance with published technical specifications, contractual standards, and Government of Alberta policies.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with Department staff, Engineering Consultants and other stakeholders in the compilation, review, editing, publication and distribution of construction tender documents, maintenance RFPs and associated addendums; and provide expert advice prior to and throughout the individual tendering periods. In addition, you will provide support and expertise in the ongoing development and maintenance of Departmental standard specifications, special provisions and specification amendments.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated; have strong problem solving and decision making abilities and the ability to function independently as well as a member of a high performance project team working within limited timelines. Effective verbal and written communication skills along with excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills will be the foundation to success as you work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver on Departmental infrastructure commitments.
Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline supplemented with 6 years of related experience. Experience with MS Office applications is required. Experience working with the Government of Alberta tendering process would be an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,428.11 - $3,188.38 bi-weekly
Candidates with lesser experience may be considered at a lower classification and salary level. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies. This position works out of the Twin Atria building located at 4999 - 98 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta.
