Career and Employment Consultants help clients to identify realistic life and career goals in order to regain financial independence. As a CEC your knowledge of the labour market is integral to the work you?ll do to connect Albertans to the jobs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to your ability to engage and develop relationships with employers to identify their labour needs, as well as inform them of strategies to attract and retain a skilled workforce. Experience working collaboratively with others will enable you to play a role in fostering partnerships and in marketing of Alberta Human Services programs and services. As part of an integrated team of professionals you will work interdependently to assess eligibility for and issue financial benefits to Albertans who are in need of emergent and/or short-term financial support to meet their basic needs.
As a CEC you will provide work search assistance and career counseling to individuals and groups. Using your interviewing and assessment skills, you will assess their employability and learning needs and will assist them to make informed choices regarding training to increase their employability. You will also work with clients to develop a plan that will put them on the path to attaining their career and employment goals. You will accomplish this by providing advice and support related to labour market information, job search strategies and training options, career planning, financial and community resources, and by determination of eligibility for our Alberta Works income support and learner benefits programs. A demonstrated knowledge of various student funding grants and loans will also be used to assist individuals in accessing these financial aid options.
Along with the commitment to providing exceptional customer service, you will bring well-developed organizational and effective problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work pressures. Building collaborative relationships, and fostering creativity and innovation will allow you to be successful in this role.

A related University Degree and at least two years of progressively responsible, directly related experience is required. Well-developed crisis intervention, conflict resolution and assessment skills are also required. Experience with computer programs and systems such as Central Client Directory, LISA, Mobius, MIMS (Maintenance Information Management System), and/or AIMS (Appeals Information Management System) is an asset.
$2,420.93 to $3,175.47 bi-weekly
