Enterprise and Advanced Education
Honourable Thomas Lukaszuk, Deputy Premier and Minister of Enterprise and Advanced Education, is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as a public member on the Alberta Economic Development Authority (AEDA). Up to 12 positions are available.
Established in 1994, AEDA is an independent advisory body that provides strategic advice to the Premier and Cabinet of Alberta through the Minister of Enterprise and Advanced Education on policies affecting the province's continued prosperity. The authority is comprised of Canadian business, academia, and municipal governance leaders who share their expertise, insight, and connections to further economic development in the province and make Alberta more competitive in the global economy.
Board Members will work with the Board Chair alongside the Premier and the Minister of Enterprise and Advanced Education, in their capacities as Executive Chair and Executive Vice-Chair of AEDA, respectively, and apply their entrepreneurial vision to a variety of challenges, including job creation, skills and education, productivity and competitiveness, market access, and other matters that improve government policy in Alberta.
Members will have the opportunity to:
Provide strategic direction to the organization and help identify future economic priorities of importance to Alberta;
Influence public policy and represent the voice of business and industry on provincial economic development priorities;
Develop researched policy options that are non-partisan, representative of Alberta as a whole, and founded on best practices; and
Strengthen partnerships between AEDA and government leaders, external advisory bodies, community groups, business associations, and economic development stakeholders.
To be eligible, you should have senior leadership experience, demonstrated community volunteer involvement, experience with board governance as well as demonstrated experience with governmental affairs.
Appointment: Board Members are appointed for a term of up to three years. There is no salary available with this position; eligible travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the legislation that governs AEDA.
