The Northeast Regional Office is looking for a professional to be part of a team that works together to reach our goal of helping to build Alberta's workforce through providing support to the Alberta Works offices. If you are a positive and energetic team player and believe in value based decision making, this may be the opportunity for you.
As a Career and Employment Consultant for the region, you will be proactive in strengthening the Alberta labour market by guiding and assisting individual Albertans with career and educational planning, as well as supporting individuals with job search activities and determining eligibility for Alberta Works program funding. By assessing career and employment needs and applying relevant labour market information, you will assist individuals in making informed career choices to enhance their employability, economic, cultural and social well-being.

Relationship Building: Develops and maintains win/win relationships and partnerships; builds effective working relationships, networks of contacts and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Communication: Clearly conveying and receiving messages to meet the needs of all. The ability to choose a communication style that is both appropriate and effective for a given situation.
Decision Making: Informed decision making; ability to assess options and implications in order to identify a solution.
Teamwork: Working cooperatively and productively with others to achieve results.
A related University Degree and at least two years of progressively responsible related experience. Education in the Career Development or Social Services area is preferred. Experience in assisting a wide range of individuals with their career planning and work search is also preferred. Experience with Alberta Works programs is an asset. Equivalencies such as a related two-year diploma with at least four years of related experience will also be considered.
For individuals who have obtained educational credentials from outside of Canada, it is recommended that you obtain an evaluation of your credentials from the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) and include the IQAS assessment certificate as part of your application. $2,420.93 - $3,175.47 bi-weekly ($63,186 - $82,879 annually).
This is a two (2) year temporary position.
Final candidates may be required to undergo a security screening. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same or lower classification.
