Do you have a passion to preserve and present Alberta's history? The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village has a job opportunity for a full time wage position for a period of four months, with a possibility of extension.
This is a senior clerical position, reporting to the Financial Operations Officer at the UCHV, and responsible for administrative support to all UCHV site programs. This position is also responsible for records management, site computer technical support and various other administrative duties, including but not limited to: assistance in the preparation of action requests, ministerial briefings, meeting minutes, meeting coordination and communications. Primary duties also include visitor reception, accounts receivable for bookings, and compiling statistics for year-round visitation.
Incumbent will work with the general public, both in person and on the telephone; the position often provides the public with the first point of contact when they contact the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, answering enquiries about programs and services at the site, responding to customer service issues, directing calls to the appropriate staff member, and taking and forwarding messages. As well, the position interacts with all UCHV staff, property management personnel, Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society staff and volunteers, members of the Minister's advisory board, and staff within the rest of the Division, and the Department, for the purposes of responding to requests, provision of service and assistance, and working to ensure the smooth operation of the facility and compliance with department policy and procedures.
The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (UCHV) is a provincially operated outdoor living history museum presenting the history of east central Alberta from a predominantly Ukrainian perspective. More than 30 historic buildings from the surrounding community have been relocated to the site presenting the time frame of 1892 - 1930. Costumed role players portray real people who once lived in the region, allowing visitors to travel back in time to learn about the area's history, people and culture.
High School diploma with a minimum of two years of related administrative experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word and Excel) is essential. Government experience along with knowledge of applicable Government programs (IMAGIS, records management practices) is an asset. Understanding of the museum's program areas and associated responsibilities is an asset. Knowledge of Ukrainian culture and language is an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$21.82 - $26.66/hour
This position is based at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village located approximately 25 minutes east of Edmonton. Final applicants may be required to submit a current driver's abstract and undergo security screening.
