We are looking for a strategic thinker with strong analytical systems thinking and conceptual skills, who has significant experience in working with non-governmental organizations and diverse community stakeholders. In performing the duties of this role, you will be thinking of both short term and long term priorities and impacts, and illustrate an understanding of how this work connects to the bigger picture. You will have experience in building collaborative working relationships and leading continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Immigrant Settlement and Language Programs, Director of Integration, the Manager is responsible for being an expert resource on settlement, externally and internally in support of the Government of Alberta. You will provide leadership and direction to a group of professional staff on settlement issues and immigrant- focused community initiatives, providing a focus on outcomes for the unit and a continual drive for improvement. As the manager you will support the settlement work identified on the Joint FPT Vision for Immigration to Canada and the Joint Framework for FPT Roles, Responsibilities and Accountabilities for Immigration. You will also encourage innovation and help develop creative new approaches to ensure that Alberta's immigrants have access to timely and effective settlement services. Your collaborative style will help you build and maintain strong relationships with the federal government, service providers and diverse community groups to develop effective programs and services. You will have the opportunity to develop strategic partnerships as you deliver immigration programs and identify opportunities to collaborate with other Divisions within Human Services, other ministries and across jurisdictions.
Your background will include strong supervisory experience, in managing professional staff with a solid understanding of immigration issues and the needs of the immigrant community in Alberta. You are motivated and thrive in a complex and challenging environment. You bring knowledge of federal and provincial immigration policy and programs to the position.
A related university degree with progressively responsible experience in program delivery is required. Management and supervisory experience is requiredan asset. Experience managing numerous internal/external stakeholders and experience leading cross-ministry work, community engagement, as well as project management experience are also assets desirable. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,936.39 to $3,951.53 bi-weekly
This is a permanent position, however secondments will be considered for candidates interested in a temporary opportunity. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same or lower classification level. Final candidates will be asked to undergo security screening.
