The Audit and Risk Analysis team within the Monitoring and Investigations Branch plays an advisory role in regards to the various compliance programs and ensures that assurance services are sufficient and appropriate to achieve the objectives of the Branch. It provides audit planning advice which may include timing of audit work, development of audit strategies, risk assessment, audit resource allocation, reviewing existing plans and recommending improvements. It is also involved in designing new audit programs, interpretation of audit results and leading special audit reviews.
The audit team leverages technology through the use of computer assisted auditing techniques to increase coverage for audits and projects, and to identify anomalies that may exist in practitioner billing and service recipient activities. The Audit Lead develops, recommends, plans and conducts specialized audit reviews designed to protect Ministry and public best interests. A logical and systematic approach and an exceptional understanding of business requirements, applicable legislation, standards, audit methodologies and best practices, will enable the incumbent to effectively design audit plans, execute, and report on the review programs, contracts, policies, and systems.
Strong project management skills and excellent problem solving skills are essential as the position adjusts planned audit work to meet business requirements and determine appropriate courses of action when recommending solutions.
As the successful candidate, your superior communication skills will assist you as you prepare quality written documentation that is tailored to various audiences. Exceptional leadership abilities are critical to the success of this key role.
University degree (Masters preferred) in a related field (eg: accounting, finance) with current professional designation plus a minimum of 5 years' experience in progressively responsible audit roles is required. Experience in audit planning and design, execution, and reporting in medium to large government entities is essential. Knowledge of the public health system with respect to authority, budgeting/funding and the role of Alberta Health is required. Experience with audit methodologies, practices and standards, as well as experience working with related legislation, regulations and policies is a must. Experience working with computer assisted auditing techniques and related software tools (SAS, ACL, Excel and Access) is preferred.
$2,651.89 to $3,482.93 bi-weekly. $69,214 to $90,904 annually.
This is a permanent full time position.
