One of the core areas and focus of the work of Alberta's Promise is communications, connections and knowledge sharing.
Driving to our goal of having strength in communications, Alberta's Promise seeks to raise public awareness and to build public will for greater support for children and youth in the province.
Alberta's Promise is an initiative that inspires communities, businesses, and agencies to work together to direct resources to further the well-being of children and youth in Alberta. We facilitate partnerships in all sectors to increase awareness and enhance investment in programs and services for Alberta's children and youth. We currently have in excess of 1500 partners in all corners of the province.
The Marketing Communications Strategist is a newly created position at Alberta's Promise designed to increase both the quantity and quality of our communications and extend the reach of our knowledge sharing. The person who fills this job will be responsible for crafting and implementing an innovative marketing communications strategy for the organization.
Specifically, the position will be responsible for the marketing communications portfolio at Alberta's Promise and will collaborate and work with the team to produce, create, and share a consistent stream of high-value content to catalyze action, broaden reach and deepen impact.
Communications is an area that is a core function for Alberta's Promise. We need to utilize this to share our stories, profile our Partners and build this to a point where we are sought after by the media and partners to provide key facts, comments, messaging and connections.
The successful candidate will be a strategist, counselor, decision-maker, ambassador, and executor. We will look to the individual for leadership in setting an agenda for bringing together the strengths in marketing communications and community relations. As such, the individual will be a key thought partner for the leadership team of the organization.
The ideal candidate will have marketing experience, event planning skills, strong writing and editing skills, experience in media and public relations, a deep interest in ideas and research, a command of marketing and branding issues, and an eagerness to embrace all forms of communications from the traditional to digital publishing and social media. In addition, he/she should have very strong organizational and leadership skills with a track record of managing projects and working effectively in cross-functional teams.
To succeed in this position, an individual must be passionate about the mission Alberta's Promise pursues and also alert to the special role that Alberta's Promise plays in the field. He/she must be entrepreneurial, nimble, curious, flexible, determined, creative, hard-driving, collegial, collaborative, confident, persuasive, bold, courageous, and tireless. A commitment to the highest standards for both the quality of work and management / leadership skills is essential.
Degree in Business with specialty in Marketing/Communications, public relations or a related field plus five plus years of progressive marketing communications experience focused on strategic planning, issues management, stakeholder and media relations, as well as knowledge of social media, current media relations and spokesperson experience.
$2,596 to $3,403 bi-weekly
Final candidates for this position will be required to undergo a security screening, be able to work some evenings and weekends. The successful will be expected to provide their own transportation as travel around the province will be required.
