As a Policy Analyst reporting to the Manager of Organ and Tissue Donation within the Transfusion and Transplantation Unit, you will provide support, leadership and advice to the branch, division and department by identifying and managing strategic opportunities and initiatives in support of advancing provincial initiatives in organ and tissue donation and transplantation. In this role you will support the Manager in providing support to a Ministerial Provincial Advisory Committee on Organ and Tissue Donation. You will also be responsible for providing policy support to the Acute and Emergency Services Branch in the form of policy analysis and development, issues management, project management support, and additional research and analysis.
As the successful candidate, you have excellent writing skills and knowledge of policy, planning, environmental scanning, legislative-process, and decision-making process within a large organization. In addition, your understanding of research theories and methods, including organizational evaluation, project management approaches and information management and security will be an asset in this role. Creativity, flexibility and your demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders will be important success factors for this position. You will also have strong analytical and conceptual skills, as well as possess the ability to work strategically and simultaneously on a variety of projects while having the ability to re-prioritize projects based on urgency.
University degree (Master's preferred) in a related field such as health, public policy, business or management and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible policy related experience is required. Experience related to Alberta's health system and within the public sector would be considered an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,420.93 to $ 3,175.47 bi-weekly ($63,186 to $82,879 per annum)
This is a temporary full-time position for one year. Secondments will be considered. This competition may be used to fill a number of future vacancies in various ministries throughout the Government of Alberta.
