The role of the Senior Project Planning Technologist will provide you with opportunities to learn and utilize your expertise in support of highway planning for the Province of Alberta, having a positive impact on the traveling public. Even though, this is a senior technologist role, the right candidate with less experience will be considered.
Reporting to the Director, Major Capital Planning, you will be part of a team that provides support for planning activities on complex highway projects to ensure that they are conducted in accordance with technical requirements, and ministry policy and/or practices. The Senior Project Planning Technologist works as part of a team provide technical solutions and advice on functional planning studies and projects aimed at increasing the cost effectiveness, safety and efficiency of operation of freeways, transportation corridors, highway interchanges and intersections.
The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of geometric design to prepare plans or exhibits using micro-station software for presentation to executive and stakeholders. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively facilitate geometric reviews; participate in technical planning; and work with stakeholders. In addition, you will hone your analytical and organizational skills to effectively contribute to the delivery and review of large-scale projects.
This position is classified as Technologies 6. However, the right candidate who does not have the required experience will be considered as an underfill at the lower classification and salary.
Civil Engineering Technology Diploma plus related experience in highway/transportation planning and design are required. Equivalencies will be considered. Experience with CAD Micro-station (drafting software), TIMS software and/or MS Office products would be an asset. Proven organizational skills are preferred.
$2,428.11 to $3,188.38 bi-weekly.
- Candidates with lesser experience may be considered at a lower salary level.
- Travel may be required in this position; candidates must possess a valid driver's license.
