A wage opportunity is available in the Sentence Administration unit at the Calgary Remand Centre. You will be responsible for the creation of offender hard copy files, ongoing maintenance of offender records, interpretation of legal documents and accurate data entry into the offender management system. Using your effective communication skills, you will obtain personal information directly from offenders during the admission process. You will respond to inquiries according to department policy and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP). Relying on your coordination abilities, you will liaise with court clerks, crown prosecutors, police officers, and other enforcement agencies to clarify court documents and coordinate offender court appearances.
High school diploma with two years related administrative experience within the criminal justice field. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and database systems is required along with accurate typing skills. Experience with government database systems is an asset. Equivalencies considered.
$21.82 - $26.66 per hour
The successful candidate must be available for a variety of shifts on an on-call basis. Shifts for the Sentence Administration area are Monday to Friday 06:45 to a.m. 3 p.m.; 8:15 am. to 4:30 p.m.; and 2:45 to 11:00 p.m. Hours of work are not guaranteed.
The Calgary Remand Centre is located at 12200 - 85th Street NW, Calgary AB. Your own transportation is required as there is no public transportation to the Centre; free parking is available. You will be eligible for a Correctional Institutional Salary Allowance for each day worked. The Calgary Remand Centre is a non-smoking environment. Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. This job opening may be used to fill current and future vacancies across the Government of Alberta.
