The Youth Assessment Centre is a residential treatment facility for adolescents with significant behavioral disturbances. We are currently looking for individuals to work as a member of a therapeutic case management team. The Child and Youth Care Counsellor participates in the development and evaluation of individual treatment plans, monitors and records behaviours. In these positions, the Child & Youth Care Counsellor is relied on to ensure that the individual child's treatment needs are identified and that approved treatment plans are implemented and evaluated to determine achievement goals. The Child and Youth Care Counsellor provides input to the treatment team based on observations and direct interaction with the child. The Child and Youth Care Counsellor will ensure a safe and secure treatment environment consistent with the Centre's philosophy and policies. The ability to work shift work and weekend work is required.
Degree or diploma in child/youth care or related area. Previous experience in youth care, preferably in an institutional/residential setting would be an asset.
$2,012.59 to $2,579.68 bi-weekly
An additional $2.25/hr. shift differential and $2.25/ hr. weekend premium is offered. The final candidate(s) will be required to have a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver?s license and have access to a reliable vehicle as travel will be required, and will also be required to provide a Driver's abstract for the past three year period. Successful candidates for this position will be asked to undergo academic verification, an Intervention Record Check and provide a Criminal Record Check that includes a Vulnerable Sector screening check. Successful candidates must be prepared to complete and maintain training in Standard First Aid, CPR, Aboriginal awareness, high-risk de-escalation and suicide intervention. This competition may be used to fill future temporary or permanent Child and Youth Care Counsellor vacancies at the Lac La Biche Youth Assessment Centre. We are also looking for wage staff to provide cover off as needed.
