Do you want to be part of a dedicated group of professionals who are working together to develop nurturing and safe environments for children, youth and families? If so, the St. Paul office of Region 10 Metis Settlements Child and Family Services Authority has an opportunity for you!
In this position, you will be responsible for providing services through various programs to the Metis Settlement communities within the Region. Your primary responsibility will be assessing whether a child is in need of intervention services by gathering, analyzing and consolidating information related to the safety needs of the child.
Drawing upon your strong knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act in addition to other related legislation, you will complete assessments and make recommendations based on the safety and protection of children and families. As a Generalist, you will also be responsible for ensuring services and resources are provided to children and families through effective case planning and case management in addition to delivering Family Support for Children with Disabilities, Supports for Permanency and Foster/Kinship Work functions.
These broad range of duties will see you implement your excellent time management, interpersonal, interviewing, assessment, problem solving and decision making skills. Effective oral and written communication skills are required in the development of service plans and presentation of documents for court.
Bachelor of Social work or Social Work Diploma with several years directly related experience is required. Equivalencies in education will be considered if experience is directly related. Computer skills in Microsoft Office are required. Experience working in a front line Intervention Services role is preferred. Experience working with the Aboriginal Culture and the Metis Settlements is an asset. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower level.
The successful applicant who possesses a BSW, MSW or a Diploma in Social Work from an Alberta college will be required to register and maintain registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers prior to commencement of employment.
For individuals who have obtained educational credentials from outside of Canada, it is recommended that you obtain an evaluation of your credentials from the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) and include the IQAS assessment certificate as part of your application. $2,474.49 - $3198.43 Bi-weekly ($64,584 - $83,479 annually)
This is a permanent full time position. The successful candidate will require a valid Alberta Driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle. Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening and an Intervention Services Record Check. Academic credentials will also be verified.
