Justice and Solicitor General
Alberta Justice and Solicitor General's Legal Services Division is responsible for providing quality legal and strategic advice to government. Within the Division, our Central Services Team provides solicitor services to a variety of ministries within the Government of Alberta. Our solicitors are exposed to a wide range of legal work and have opportunities to work with different ministries. The work we do is interesting, important and ever changing.
For a one-year maternity leave cover-off, we are seeking a junior solicitor to assist with a wide range of legal matters involving the Government of Alberta, particularly related to land transfers and other transactional files, but also to expropriations and written submissions to administrative tribunals.
The successful applicant will join a team of lawyers who provide legal and related strategic services to Alberta Transportation and Alberta Infrastructure; the important responsibilities of this position will include interacting with various Government Departments, tribunals and agencies.
The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, some experience in real estate
transactions, as well as a knowledge of government and some familiarity with a wide range of financial, commercial and real estate law.
Success in this position will require
- an aptitude for real estate transactions and strong client focus,
- excellent communication skills, both written and oral,
- an eye for detail, coupled with an ability to grasp bigger-picture issues, and
- excellent interpersonal skills and a team orientation.
A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), active member or immediate eligibility for full membership with the Law Society of Alberta and up to eight years related legal experience.
$ 2,929.70 - $4,568.83 bi-weekly
