If you are seeking to establish or advance your career within the public service, the Strategic Procurement Branch of Alberta Transportation has a rewarding opportunity for you to apply your talents and gain valuable experience and training.
Working within a team of professional and technical experts, the Tendering Technologist uses their keen eye for detail and accuracy to ensure tender documents for highway, bridge and water management construction and rehabilitation programs comply with published technical specifications, contractual standards, and Government of Alberta policies.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with Department staff, Engineering Consultants and other stakeholders in the review, editing, publication and distribution of construction tender documents, maintenance RFPs and associated addendums; as well as provide expert advice prior to and throughout the tendering periods. Additional responsibilities include participation in the ongoing development and maintenance of Departmental standard specification, special provision and amendment on-line libraries and published manuals.
The ability to participate as part of a project team is essential. Your effective verbal and written communication skills along with excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills will be the foundation to success when working collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders. Self motivation and a high degree of problem solving and decision making ability are essential for delivery of the Department's commitment to service excellence.
A diploma in applied science such as engineering, construction, environment, or other related discipline supplemented with 6 years of related experience with technical writing and reviewing contract standards and specifications is required. Experience with MS Office applications and project management software is required. Demonstrated familiarity with procurement policies and practices and principles of contract law are desired. Experience working with the Government of Alberta tendering process is an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,428.11 - $3,188.38 bi-weekly
Candidates with lesser experience may be considered at a lower classification and salary level. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies. This position works out of the Twin Atria building located at 4999 - 98 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta.
