Justice and Solicitor General
Alberta Justice is looking for motivated individuals to fill permanent and temporary Judicial Clerk positions. These positions are available within several sections of Court of Queen's Bench Calgary.
Judicial Clerks are the frontline representatives of the court system and provide essential paralegal support to all stakeholders including the public, the judiciary and the legal community attending the court.
We are recruiting to a permanent Divorce clerk position. Under the direction of the Divorce Supervisor, you will perform counter duties by receiving Divorce documents for filing, entry and issuance from solicitors, the public, and other Government agencies. You will review documents to ensure compliance with the Rules of Court, Divorce Act, and other relevant legislation. You will file or return documents for correction, perform searches, enter information on CASES, assign fees according to the fee tariff and perform general office duties.
Additional duties may include reviewing and filing documents in adherence to the applicable Legislation, Rules and practices; assisting the Judge before, during and after Court by swearing in witnesses, preparing and filing documents, accepting pleas; maintaining control and care of exhibits; operating technical equipment and logging court documentation into applicable databases.
Essential skills and abilities:
As the successful candidate, you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in your work is essential.
The right candidate will have a demonstrated attention to detail as well as the ability to handle a high volume of work while meeting deadlines.
A High School diploma and a minimum of one year related experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess post-secondary education in a related field. Candidates with greater qualifications will be considered at a higher level and salary. Equivalencies will be considered.
$1,511.95 to $2,184.24 bi-weekly
Candidates must have the ability to lift files, as well as withstand extensive keyboarding, sitting and standing for extended periods of time. A typing test will be required. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies.
