The Yellowhead Youth Centre requires a wage relief Recreation Therapist to join our Recreation Department to cover-off both short and long-term absences of permanent staff due to vacation, sick leave, etc.
Working as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, you will be responsible to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate diversified recreational activities for clients, taking into consideration each clients individual needs. The ability to be creative in the development of new programs for clients and knowledge of available community resources is considered an asset.
These positions require candidates who are available for shift work, which may include both day and evening shifts.
Degree in Recreation Therapy, Recreation Administration or Physical Education with Special Populations. Six months to one year of directly related experience in a residential setting with emotionally/behaviourally disturbed youth ages 10-18 is required. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license. Experience in providing therapeutic recreation; program planning, implementation and evaluation is required. Current First Aid/CPR Certificate and National Lifeguard Services (NLS) are also requirements of this position. Experience working with Aboriginal children and families is considered an asset.

Hourly Wage: $30.43
