We're looking for a Policy Analyst to support the Policy Coordination and Community Engagement unit of the Policy and Community Engagement Division.
As the Policy Analyst, you will have the opportunity to provide logistical and policy support to a wide variety of program areas. The Policy Analyst will manage the Ministry's policy tracking system, as well as provide coordination support to internal networks devoted to improving policy capacity and coordination within the Ministry and the Government of Alberta. They also take the lead in arranging events and coordinating logistics, and developing tools based on best practice to support the development of policy products. Under direction of the Senior Manager, this position researches assigned issues and obtains relevant information to prepare reports, briefing notes and correspondence. This position will also perform environmental scanning to help inform the planning and development of policies and initiatives.
To be successful in this role, candidates need to be highly organized, have effective interpersonal relationships, strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to research and analyze findings. The Policy Analyst works in a team environment, providing advice to and working collaboratively with project teams and committees across the ministry in achieving work objectives. This is a fast-paced position, requiring the ability to manage numerous ongoing projects, and an aptitude for problem-solving and decision-making is essential. This position operates in an environment where mature judgment, tact and diplomacy are valued.
University graduation in a Social Sciences field (Political Science or Canadian Studies preferred), in addition to some related experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel are required. Experience in policy analysis and/or public administration is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,113.48 to $2,772.38 bi-weekly ($55,160 to $72,359 per annum)
This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same or lower classification and salary level across the Government of Alberta. Final candidates may be asked to undergo a security screening.
