Edmonton - We have an exciting opportunity for a team player with a passion for local government, and the skills to turn that passion into practice. We are looking for someone with solid experience in collaborating with key stakeholders, along with well-developed skills in complex issues management, project coordination, strategic thinking and policy research.
Reporting to the Manager, Research and Coordination, Local Government Services Division, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on strengthening the municipal-provincial partnership through meaningful consultation, collaboration, facilitation, research and policy review. You will coordinate and support branch/division activities related to major provincial initiatives in respect of municipalities, on behalf of the branch/division. You will participate in a range of initiatives to further the division?s knowledge of municipal issues and will draw upon your specialized understanding of Alberta's municipal sector, issue sensitivities, the roles and responsibilities of local governments, and provincial and federal measures in support of municipalities.
In addition, you will be responsible for representing the Division on interdepartmental, provincial/municipal, and interagency committees or working groups. You will also provide coordination of various Unit activities, including training and coaching professional staff, and provide information and advice regarding a wide range of local government issues to federal, provincial, and municipal officials.
University graduation in a related field plus 6 years of progressively responsible experience in provincial or local government is required. Previous experience with stakeholder consultation, research and analysis, issues management, and provincial or municipal policy development is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,772.38 to $3,652.68 Bi-weekly.
This is a temporary salaried position terminating on March 31, 2014. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at an equivalent or lower level. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
