You will independently investigate and resolve alleged contraventions of the Employment Standards Code and Regulation. This is achieved through timely and impartial investigation of complaints filed, third party information and advanced enforcement activities, including worksite inspections, audits and prosecutions.
You will be required to fully and appropriately exercise the authorities delegated under the legislation in a fair and unbiased manner. You will gather evidence and make determinations based on the investigation. Those determinations can become enforceable as a judgment in the Alberta Court of Queens Bench.
You will address complex issues in an investigation including the interpretation and application of the Code regarding the payment of earnings and entitlements. You are required to assess any earnings owed, prepare legal documents and provide detailed explanations to all parties of the outcome.
The work will involve, reviewing and auditing payroll records, gathering evidence, interviewing employers and employees, conducting inspections at the worksite, and other enforcement activities.
You will use your strong investigation, communication, mediation, conflict resolution, decision-making, and customer service skills to facilitate the resolution of employment disputes.
University graduation and at least two years of related experience. Experience in conducting investigations, resolving complaints, and mediation/negotiation is required. Past involvement with enforcement of legislation, policy, and/or procedures is preferred. Auditing experience would be an asset. Proficiency in working with computer programs/applications is also required.
$2,420.93 to $3,175.47 bi-weekly ($63,186 to $82,880 annually)
