We are committed to ongoing improvement and pursuit of excellence in services to children, youth and families. Our Casework Practice Model is based on the philosophy that children, youth and families should have input into the decisions that affect their lives.
The Caseworker will engage and collaborate with the family, along with the Assessor and the service team members, to develop the case plan undertaking ongoing assessment of the children and youth at risk, and the family?s ability to inform and build the case plan utilizing a strengths-based approach to provide and manage services within specified timeframes to mitigate risk. The Caseworker engages families, helps them to understand their situation, and works with them to address issues causing the child to be in need of intervention. This position engages child/youth, family and community supports to reduce risk to child/youth, promote permanency and better outcomes for child/youth and families. It also establishes or enhances existing relationships and partnerships in order to provide services to children and their families. The Caseworker is also responsible for preparing parents and children for court and preparing all necessary court documents.
To be effective in these roles, strong communication, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills are required in your intervention and counselling of clients. Strong oral and written communication skills would be utilized in the development of service plans and presentation of documents for court. Faced with stressful situations and irregular hours, the successful candidates will need to be highly motivated and self-directed with strong time management and organizational skills to be considered an asset to our team. This position may also involve travel to neighboring offices to assist in workload management and assistance as needed.
Bachelor of Social Work with some related experience. Equivalencies will be considered: Master of Social Work, OR related university degree and 2 years related experience; OR related diploma and 3 years related experience.
$2,368.82 to $3,062.14 /Bi-weekly
This is a temporary salaried position expected to expire on or before July 31, 2014 with a possibility of extension. The successful applicants who possess a BSW, MSW or Diploma in Social Work are required to register and maintain registration with the College of Social Workers. The successful candidate will be required to have a valid Alberta Driver?s license and have access to a reliable vehicle that meets the requirements of the Authority as travel will be required. You will be asked to undergo an academic check, Intervention Record Check, and provide a suitable security check. In order to expedite this process please be prepared to present a Criminal Records Check that includes a Vulnerable Sector screening check at the time of the interview.
