Senior Manager (Band 2, Zone 2)
The Capital Planning Sector of Alberta Education is seeking a professional and enthusiastic individual to lead the Strategic Planning Branch. The Branch is responsible for developing strategic plans and initiatives that support the Sector in meeting business goals and delivering innovative and high quality capital planning programs and services for education infrastructure. A highly organized, multi-tasking individual is required to oversee the planning and development of the Ministry's annual capital plan submission, identify and develop comprehensive responses to complex strategic capital planning issues, as well as manage/monitor data and funding administration for approved capital projects. In addition, this position oversees Education?s role in the procurement of approved projects within the Alberta Schools Alternative Procurement (ASAP) initiatives, public-private partnerships (P3) that design, build, finance and maintain schools. This includes ensuring established policies, regulations and guidelines are complied with, as well as providing associated issues, risk management and communications services.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Capital Planning, the position is also responsible for supporting the overall capital planning processes for schools throughout the province including the development and enhancement of tools for modeling future school infrastructure needs and prioritizing current capital projects. To be successful, the incumbent must possess a strong background in business improvement and project oversight, in addition to well-developed financial and data management skills. An understanding of Alberta?s P3 approach to providing school infrastructure would also be very valuable. An ability to effectively lead diverse project teams and positively engage a broad group of influential stakeholders will be critical to your success in building consensus and achieving results. Your strong strategic planning and resource management skills as well as the ability to develop excellent working relationships with both internal staff and external stakeholders will be critical to the success of this fast-paced and challenging role. An understanding of design, construction and building evaluation concepts are also required.
Your excellent communication and facilitation skills will be an asset as you regularly interact with government staff at all levels (and from various Ministries), as well as key external stakeholders. Degree in a related discipline, supplemented by solid experience in leadership, project oversight, managing diverse teams and business development. Knowledge of the Education system is an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in MS Office and other related computer applications. Equivalencies may be considered. $3,871.67 to $4,916.45 bi-weekly ($101,050 to $128,319 annually).
