Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, Various Locations - If you are looking for a career that is both challenging and rewarding; look no further! Court Security and Prisoner Transport is currently seeking highly qualified candidates to fill multiple Law Court Sheriff vacancies throughout the province of Alberta.
Responsibilities will involve providing a safe, secure, and armed presence within all levels of court facilities, government centres, legislative buildings, and other assigned areas. Ensuring the safety as well as diminishing the threat of intimidation of all persons within these assigned areas including judiciary, government employees/officials, visitors and users. Duties may include: conducting prisoner escorts to and from various facilities; assisting with out-of-province escorts; monitoring courtrooms in use; assisting in the transportation of exhibits; screening/escorting visitors into restricted areas; providing specialized, competent physical security services for special events and conferences; supervising prisoners attending court and within holding cells to ensure care, custody, and control; patrolling designated facilities; acting on complaints of criminal acts.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. You must maintain a high standard of dress, deportment, and attendance as well as enjoy working as a member of a team supporting others in their role as Sheriff.

Several years of directly related security/law enforcement experience/education. A law enforcement related degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and some related experience is preferred. Equivalencies considered.
If you are selected for an interview, you MUST have successfully completed and obtained the following prior to the interview date:
- P.A.R.E. physical test (pass time is 4 minutes, 45 seconds or better) within the past three months
- Current Standard First Aid
- Current CPR - Level C (Adult, Child, Infant)
- Valid Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent license if you are applying from out-of-province)
- Current Driver's Abstract
$1,982.94 to $2,451.54 bi-weekly. ($51,754 to $63,985 annually).

Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a pre-employment psychological assessment.
Candidates should be prepared to accept positions in any location. Interview and relocation expenses will not be granted.
Selected candidates will attend a 10 week training program upon commencement and must successfully complete this program to continue employment. The training will take place at the Staff College in Edmonton; the next class will be held in September 2013.
NOTE: Candidates are paid during the 10 weeks of training.
