The Innovative Compensation Branch, Health Workforce Division, Alberta Health (AH), has a lead role in physician and allied compensation models, the structure and evolution of academic medicine, the Schedule of Medical Benefits and in setting system-level strategic policy directions, funding and accountability related to primary health care in Alberta.

This exciting role within the Health Workforce Division in the Innovative Compensation Branch is a perfect opportunity for an individual looking to demonstrate broad knowledge of project management skills, research and development as well as exceptional policy analysis skills in a health-related environment!
The policy analyst provides leadership related to policy development for the Ministry with an emphasis on alternate compensation models for physicians within academic alternate relationship plans. This position has responsibility for management and accountability of a variety of academic medicine projects such as Academic Alternate Relationship Plans and development of other projects related to innovation of academic medicine in Alberta.
Outstanding critical thinking skills will enable the incumbent to review all materials related to Academic Medicine and provide financial stewardship for all monies invested in Academic Medicine. Application of exceptional project management abilities will establish critical paths, process maps or other project management instruments as required and work with project site personnel, Albertan Health Services, the Alberta Medical Association, the Universities of Alberta and Calgary and external consultants to manage and implement projects. The position assumes a leadership role in Academic Medicine policy analysis, policy development, research and analysis. Strong communication and relationship building skills will enable you to effectively work with stakeholders across other provincial health ministries, and across the Canadian health sector.
University graduation in a related field (social sciences, health, public health management, economics, public and business administration, public policy and management, or related discipline) plus a minimum of 4 years progressively responsible related experience is required. Equivalencies considered. Related experience in the following is also required: research and statistical data analysis, policy analysis and development, project management, strategic planning, grant administration and program evaluation as well as knowledge of consultation processes, co-ordination and change management methods. Work experience in public policy or the health care system is desired.
$2,596.42 to $3,403.56 bi-weekly($67,766 to $88,832 per annum)
This competition will be used to fill 2 temporary roles that will each be two years in length. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower level. This competition may be used to fill a number of current and future vacancies in various ministries throughout the Government of Alberta.
