The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is currently looking for 2 talented, organized and self-motivated individuals to join their diverse team as Medical Legal Records Technicians in both the city of Edmonton and Calgary.
The Medical Legal Records Technician will be responsible for:
- compiling, maintaining and completing files related to sudden death investigations
- liaising with various stakeholders, families and outside agencies
- gathering and processing medicolegal and sociological data to assist in proper certification of the cause and manner of death
- ensuring appropriate and timely release of confidential information in accordance with the Fatality Inquiries Act and FOIP.
- prepares reports for the OCME used by: insurance companies, lawyers, physicians and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written; will have a strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy will be flexible in dealing with challenging situations, in addition to having exceptional time management and problem solving skills. This position will require you to be resourceful and take initiative in day-to-day activities. The incumbent will be required to have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows.
A High school diploma and at least three years of related experience. A Medical Records/Health Information Managment certification or equivalent education is required. Experience with medical office administration will be considered an asset.
$1,724.26 - $2,111.09 bi-weekly
There are two positions available: 1 in Edmonton and 1 in Calgary. Please specify on your resume or cover letter which location you are applying for.
