The Food Safety and Animal Health Division of Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development comprises veterinary, scientific and professional teams who deliver critical services that protect public health and support market access for Alberta's agriculture and food industry. We are looking for a talented and knowledgeable communications expert to help our highly educated, professional team to develop tools and resources that create awareness and educate processors about food safety.
Reporting to the Head of the Safe Food Systems Section, you will be responsible for the providing guidance, training, technical expertise and coaching to Alberta's agri-food industry in the development and implementation of food safety process control systems. As well, you will provide expertise within the department on food safety research, policy review, projects, and Federal/Provincial/Territorial initiatives. As well, you will be responsible for identifying the needs of the industry, initiating, developing and delivering extension projects and technical documents to increase the knowledge base of food safety among Alberta food processors in all food commodities and jurisdictions.
In order to be successful, you will have proven experience in training and extension to the processing industry. You must be a skilled educator with knowledge in food safety. Knowledge of and experience with project and process management is beneficial. An ability to work in teams is essential; our workplace is focused and busy, but also friendly, social and fun.
Two-year technical diploma in a Food Science related field, plus seven years related experience with Food Safety Systems, training and extension, and work within the industry is required. A degree in Food Science is preferred. Experience with auditing and policy development is considered to be an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,600.72 - $3,424.12 bi-weekly
$67,878 - $89,369 annually
These are temporary Salaried positions, approved until March 31, 2014.
