Assessors receive all reports of alleged abuse where they are required to examine the information and determine whether there is a need for assessment/investigation or to provide information on interim community and family support services. In this capacity you will be required to work with children and families to develop plans that ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth, provide counseling to children and families, and otherwise carry out the role of guardian. You must have flexibility in your schedule as this position is required to participate in an on-call / after hour's rotation (evenings and weekends).
The successful applicant will have developed coordination and facilitation skills in order to consult with other community service providers, above average communication (oral and written) and conflict resolution skills, sound investigative and assessment skills. You must be able to develop strategies for engagement in an assessment/investigation. You will also possess a sound knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act and related legislation, policies and standards.
Bachelor of Social Work with some directly related experience working with children and families. Experience working in a front line child protection role is essential. You will have knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act, legal procedures, and community resources. You will also possess knowledge of working with, Aboriginal cultures and language. Computer skills in Microsoft office are required. Equivalencies may be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification level and salary.
$2,474.49 - $3,198.43 Bi-Weekly
The successful applicants who possess a MSW, BSW, or Diploma in Social Work are required to register and maintain registration with and maintain registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers. The successful candidate will be required to have a valid Alberta Driver's License and have access to a reliable vehicle that meets the requirements of the Authority as travel will be required. The final candidate for this position will be asked to undergo an academic, intervention record check and provide a suitable security screening. In order to expedite this process, please be prepared to present a Criminal Record Check that includes a Vulnerable Sector screening check at the time of the interview.
